

FOCL Mission Statement
The purpose of the Friends of the Chanhassen Library shall be to maintain an association of persons to stimulate public support, understanding and usage of the Chanhassen Library; to encourage and receive gifts, endowments, and bequests for the benefit of the Chanhassen Library; and to support and cooperate with the Carver County Library System in developing library services and facilities for the community of Chanhassen.
The Friends of the Chanhassen Library (‘FOCL’) is an all-volunteer charitable organization that believes that a dynamic library is a community gathering place that enhances the lives of all citizens. We support strong library services to educate, provide resources and to meet the growing information needs of our community.
FOCL holds an active charitable organization 501(c)3 status with the IRS. As such, all donations are fully tax-deductible.
What Do Friends Do?
- Purchase resources and equipment that enhance the library experience
- Advocate for library concerns at the city, county and state levels
- Conduct used book sales and other fundraising events
- Write grant application for library resources
- Sponsor author talks, children’s programs and other special interest programs

We will provide support to the Carver Co. Library System through the Chanhassen Library (without decreasing the need for county support) so the library will meet the expectations of our community.*

Provide advocacy and/or money to ensure state-of-the-art technology, including technological training, for library users.
